Server 9 Down
Hi,
Seems like server 9 is down. All sites on that server are inaccessible. I posted in the support site but on checking out chandler99's post, i figured monitoring maybe down also, thus I posted here just to make sure the info reaches you guys |

Hi,
Unfortunately Server9 is down, and this is because the primary drive reverted to read-only after experiencing filesystem errors. We have tried multiple ways of trying to repair the filesystem but to no avail. The server is now being reloaded with a fresh OS, and all accounts will then have to be restored from the backups. This will take a few hours to complete. We apologise for the downtime caused by this, but hope you understand that software and hardware can sometimes fail which is beyond anyone's control. Our own backups were run last night, so hopefully any changes you made will have been backed up since Monday. However this will have to be looked into once the server is online again.

As you are aware, Server9 went offline this morning around 10am BST.
Upon examination, we found that the filesystem reverted to read-only due to errors on the hard drive. The last time this happened, both the primary drive and secondary drives were fixed after rebooting the server and repairing the file-systems. However on this occasion, repairing the filesystems on the drives failed, and so we reloaded the server with a fresh operating system install on the primary drive. However, the problem now is that the secondary drive's data is irrecoverable, and this is bad news because it means that the backups are irrecoverable. We've tried a variety of methods to recover the backup data, but to no avail. It does appear that the problem is ultimately with the hardware, as opposed to the operating system on them. These were both brand new hard drives, and they will be returned to our suppliers for either replacements or for a refunds. Unfortunately all customer accounts and data on Server9 have been lost, and there is no way in which we can restore them. We hope that clients have their own local backups to restore your accounts/websites with. As Server9 has been rendered unusable, we've created new reseller accounts for customers on Server6 and already sent notification of this via the Helpdesk. We feel terrible that this loss of data has occurred, and will be looking into additional measures to increase data redundancy. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this has caused any customers. This thread is now being closed and we request all customers to conduct any further communication via the Helpdesk.
