I'm on Server 11, and I noticed your backups only save 4 of my mail forwarders (cpanel: mail>forwarding>me@mydomain to gmail addy) for some odd reason, it forgot one - has in the past too anytime I moved to a different server. No biggy, I'm just wondering if it's a bug in the backup software.
At least you keep backups, some hosts don't keep anything. Thank you for providing a great service.
Hi there,
how do I find out on which server my service runs?
Regards
Jamil

Hi,
How many forwarders did you have setup?

Hi,
You would have received this information on the welcome email when you first signed up.
If you don't still have the email, please submit a support ticket and we'll confirm what server you are on.
Hi,
We were on server 2. What is the last backup you have of our SQL db? I used your backup tool on the 10th of this month and it generated a 1kb file only. That is all I have.
What is the last SQL backup you have of our db on server2?
Thanks

Hi,
As stated on the main update thread, MySQL data on our backups were unfortunately corrupted.
Your issue needs to be looked into via a support ticket, so please do so if you already have submitted one.

How am I supposed to restore via manual backups when your Cpanel is generating broken (1KB) .gz files of our DB? That is all we have of our 3mb+ SQL file. Why did it generate a 1kb file for me on the 10th of this month??
I have sent several emails (tickets) and I'm awaiting a response for the past 3 hours. Our site including entire DB has been down for the past 4 days now!
Aditionally, I generated a FULL BACKUP of all sites and db's on the 10th. That tar.gz file is also GONE FROM THE ROOT! How did that disappear??
I can forward you the email I received when the full backup was completed! Where is that file? How can a tar.gz file disappear, while everything else has remained?

If the backup you made prior to the server re-install had broken MySQL data, then that is consistent with our backups having broken MySQL data, i.e. something wrong with the backup script and/or the MySQL configuration.
However there is nothing we can do about it now, unless you have a good local backup available.
Anyway please discuss this on your support ticket as we're not going to discuss individual issues here. If you've submitted a ticket please be patient whilst we respond to it.

As far as I know our site was perfect with good MySQL integrity on the 10th and you will see that in the email generated during the FULL BACKUP (ALL OK'S INCLUDING DB).
Our earlier, local backups were erased due to a power surge - all we have is the erroneously created 1kb backup and the FULL BACKUP which should be SOMEWHERE in your servers. It's 329MB.
Please respond to my ticket asap.
Thanks.
1. You have managed to destroy databases for 4 sites. Thousands of users. All tables, data in SQL is gone.
2. Your cpanel did not generate a proper backup file for me on the 10th when i tried to backup. How am I supposed to have a local copy that you keep asking for???
3. You have also lost the tar.gz FULL BACKUP file I made, stored in root.
This is ridiculous..

Yes unfortunately all MySQL data in our set of backups has been lost.
Yes when you tried to backup on the 10th you probably would have got a corrupted backup. Howeve, you should have earlier local backups that are good. But as you stated, they were "erased in a power surge".
The full backup is useless if stored within your hosting account.
Again, whilst we try our best to maintain data, at the end of the day you are responsible for ensuring that you have good backups. If our backup tool is not working, ultimately you are responsible to check this by looking at the data it creates.
Whilst we offer a decent value shared hosting service for our shared customers, if you are running a critical online business with critical data you should be using managed dedicated resources which offers greater redundancy with a tailored external backup solution. You should not be running such an important online business on a £5/month hosting account.
This thread is now being closed. Anyone else facing issues should now open a support ticket. If you've already opened a support ticket please be patient till we get to it.
